Research Interests
Russian history, particularly the developments and structures of medieval Russian society; Russian-Byzantine-Mongol relations.

Current Projects
“Medieval Rus’ in the Mongol Era” (a reevaluation of the social-economic history of medieval Rus’ and the development of Muscovy); “A Social History of Medieval Rus’” (which seeks to integrate the extensive scholarship that exists on the society and economy of medieval Rus’).
