Research Interests
The role of social networks and social capital in new venture birth and growth in the comparative contexts of different countries and industries. Specifically, with a focus on the interaction effects of social networks, on the one hand, and institutions, national cultures, human capital, knowledge, gender, religion, ethnicity, and cognitions, on the other hand, on the performance of new ventures in the comparative contexts of China, Japan, India, France, Mongolia, Russia, and the United States. In terms of industry, with a focus on venture capital, Internet industry, software, nanotechnology, family firms, and law firms.

Institutions, cultures, and entrepreneurs’ networks; Height, weight, perceived looks, and entrepreneurship: Health human capital, social networks, and entrepreneurial success;
Time, networks, and entrepreneurship: The interaction effects of time perception and network structure of entrepreneurs on new venture growth;
Islam, food, and entrepreneurship: Muslim entrepreneurs versus Non-Muslim entrepreneurs in Beijing.
